Sky+ Remote Record
Sunday, April 19, 2009 at 2:12PM I finally got around to hooking my Sky HD box to my telephone line (whether this is necessary or not is hotly debated on this most deliciously nargy forum, tip o' the hat to Monkeyfood) and in doing so was able to run the set-up for remote record.
This does exactly what you might expect: it allows you to set your Sky box to record programmes from your mobile phone (via text message) or, even more simply, via an excellent iPhone app.
But this iPhone app is not the one offered for free by Sky (called Sky+) but is instead a little app called Tioti TV+. It gives you full channel listings and programme info and then allows you, with one touch, to send a message to your Sky+ (or HD) box to record it.
Genius. And simple.
Perfect technology.
(And now why won't Sky allow their HD box to connect to your LAN via the in-built ethernet port rather than telephone, and when won't we get the new Guide?)
I don't know whether I am just being curmudgeonly but I can't seem to get comfortable with the new EPG (which came down from MurdochSat four days ago).
For a start - it persists in defaulting your planner to show your oldest recording first. Surely one records lots of things, some of which you don't get round to watching, or you know you'll keep for later as there are more things that you'd rather see first, and as a result you want quick access to your recently recorded things first?
But try as I might I can't find a way to sort by date in reverse order and make it stick.
