Can you imagine any other $200bn company doing this?

If you go to apple.com today (Thurs 18 March) you will not find any sexy shots of the upcoming iPad or other aluminium hardware treats.

You'll find a picture of a kindly-faced & shrewd old man. And an obituary.

Today Apple has given over its entire homepage (which is the 54th most visited site on the internet) to the memory of one of its Board directors.

The value of this web real estate is simply staggering and they took the time out to give it up for one man who, I warrant, 99.9% of Apple's visitors will never have heard of. The softer side of capitalism peeks out.
